OK, I had a chance to view and do the bodyweight workout DVD.  Here are my thoughts ...

The good:  The videos are great and a great addition to your arsenal of tools to keeping fit.  I would recommend them.   Whether you are busy or have lots of free time ... or a beginner or an expert, there is a lot of challenging stuff in here to help keep you fit.  I liked the explanation of the ropes and resistance bands to help you out. 

I thought the packaging and logo look very professional. 

The DVD does a good job explaining the techniques and I found the intro section to be very useful.  I liked the pushup variations ... I had never tried them and found them challenging. 

I really liked the multiple angles of the exercises during the workout and the timer at the bottom of the screen is great. 

The overall system of putting the workouts together also seems very effective.  Oh, and the music is great.  Very Joe Satriani-like and it works well in this context.

“The Ideal” Versus “The Real”

“Ideal” would be to spend a full hour everyday following a periodized, structured workout plan that progressively keeps you on your way towards awesome results. 

 
The thing is that what “Really” happens is that life gets in the way.  The car breaks down, the gym is overly crowded, your forgot your workout clothes, you name it……there is always something that can go wrong. 

 

So my advice is to definitely try to follow a structured plan consisting of longer workouts that build your body in a progressive manner BUT I also suggest that you have a back-up plan in place when life gets in the way and ruins your well-laid plans.

Initially, some of them kicked my butt, but I'm gradually getting used to them and turning up the intensity.  I haven't tried the Renegade ballistic exercises, but they look challenging!I've used both the bodyweight and dumbell exercises a lot on the road, as they are easily adapted to hotels.  At home I've just about stopped going to the gym, as I am not trying to gain muscle mass, but maintain overall fitness, strength and flexibility.

OK!!!   I  LOVE the Dumbbell DVD!  I've done the first two workouts, and I know this is something I will stick with - thank you thank you!

Who knows, maybe even 16 one of these days! I'm pretty out of shape.

I plan to do the DB workouts for a few weeks to build my strength back up. I like that suggestion. I haven't been able to do pull-ups in many years!!  But my husband and daughters can do them. I am excited about these DVD's. Not a ROM machine, but the next best thing!
